Youth Empowerment camp
- Introduction
The Youth Empowerment Camp Season One was successfully conducted with the aim of equipping young people with essential life skills, practical knowledge, and values that promote responsible living, self-reliance, and positive decision-making. The camp provided a safe and interactive environment where participants were guided, mentored, and trained through both theoretical and practical sessions.
- Objectives of the Camp
The main objectives of the Youth Empowerment Camp were to:
Guide youths in making informed career choices
Promote ethical behavior and strong social skills
Teach responsibility in work and daily life
Build financial literacy through saving and credit management
Equip youths with practical vocational skills for self-employment
- Participants
The camp was attended by very many youths from different backgrounds who showed great enthusiasm, commitment, and willingness to learn. Facilitators included trainers, mentors, and volunteers with experience in youth and child development.
- Activities Conducted
- a) Career Guidance
Participants were guided on career choices based on their talents, interests, and academic abilities. Sessions focused on goal setting, career planning, and the importance of education and skills development.
- b) Ethics and Social Skills
This session emphasized moral values, integrity, discipline, respect, teamwork, and effective communication. Youths were encouraged to develop positive attitudes and responsible behavior within their communities.
- c) Work and Responsibilities
Participants were taught the importance of hard work, time management, accountability, and fulfilling personal and social responsibilities. Practical examples were used to help them understand the value of being productive members of society.
- d) Saving and Credit Management
The youths were trained in basic financial literacy, including the importance of saving, budgeting, and responsible use of credit. They learned how small savings can grow and support future goals.
- e) Practical Skills Training (Baking)
As part of vocational skills development, participants were trained in baking practical products such as half cakes and doughnuts (daddies). This session equipped them with hands-on skills that can be used for income generation and self-employment.
