Who We Are

Shared Love Uganda (SLU) is a registered child and community development organization founded in 2010. Born out of compassion for vulnerable children in Makukuba and surrounding communities, we exist to bring hope where it is most needed.

Our work began when we witnessed young girls—some as young as 13—being married off, children dropping out of school, and families struggling without access to health care, clean water, or sustainable livelihoods.

Today, SLU continues to stand as a beacon of empowerment, serving disadvantaged children, families, and communities across Uganda.

Our Vision

Empowering people and community systems to enrich the holistic needs of a child.

Our Mission

Building self‑reliant communities that serve the needs of children.

Our Core Values

  • God‑fearing: Faith guides our work and decisions.
  • Transparency: We steward resources with integrity and accountability.
  • Teamwork & Partnership: We collaborate with communities, sponsors, and partners for greater impact.
  • Commitment to the Disadvantaged: We prioritize the most vulnerable—orphans, abandoned children, and struggling families.

What We Do

We serve through integrated programs that address the root causes of vulnerability:

  • Child Rights Protection & Sponsorship: Safeguarding children and ensuring access to education, nutrition, and care.
  • Education & Vocational Skills: Providing quality schooling and practical training to prepare youth for the labor market.
  • Health Services: Expanding access to maternal health, immunization, HIV/AIDS awareness, and community health facilities.
  • Community Empowerment: Supporting self‑help groups, clean water projects, savings initiatives, and agro‑business.
  • Youth & Women Empowerment: Equipping young people and women with skills, leadership, and economic opportunities.
  • Environmental Protection: Promoting tree planting, sustainable farming, and ecological awareness.
    – Spiritual Growth: Encouraging discipleship and values that strengthen families and communities.

Our Impact

Since 2010, SLU has:

  • Directly supported over 300 children and reached thousands more through community programs.
  • Trained 300 families in self‑reliance skills.
  • Built schools, vocational centers, health facilities, and safe water projects.
  • Partnered with organizations like Rotary International, Shared Blessings USA, Uganda Police, and Hariss International to expand reach and accountability.
